What if?

From My Life at Sweetbrier Have you ever wondered how your life would be different if something hadn’t happened? For example, what if my dad didn’t teach me to ride horses after a pediatric specialist said his little girl would never walk? I’d have missed much of what I love to do. Isn’t it amazing how a single decision can change your life? My dream was to become a champion equestrian. That meant I’d have to beat the odds. But fortunately, my parents said I could accomplish anything I wanted, if I persevered. Did you know the average person can begin learning to jump after just a few months of lessons? Imagine how frustrated I felt when it took me six years of riding every day before I star...

Review for Firenze’s Light

4.0 out of 5 starsAn adorable book with a great message for small children July 23, 2019 Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase Firenze’s Fire is an endearing story about a firefly named Firenze who doesn’t like to shine her light.Several of her friends ask for help with little tasks, but Firenze does not agree to use her light. It’s a cute story with bright illustrations. I think small children would enjoy it and remember the message that we are all unique and should not be shy about using our talents. I did find the small print difficult to read in places, but still, it’s a great story and I recommend it. review by children’s author Deanie Humphrys-Dunne copyright 2019: Deanie Humphrys-D...

Review of The Elephants and the Leaking Tap

4.0 out of 5 starsA cute book for toddlers July 27, 2019Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseThis is a cute, educational book for toddlers Little ones will enjoy the three elephants who search for someone to fix their leaky faucet. Toco, Poco, and Loco learn that what pilots do. They also explore painters jobs, and many others before they discover who will be able to sole their problem. I liked that the author showed what kind of tools each professional would use to to his/ her job. I do think that the book would be easier to read if it had larger print. Review for Latoya’s Downtown Day

5.0 out of 5 starsA good book with important lessons August 26, 2019 Format: Kindle Edition I enjoyed Latoya’s Downtown Day. The author does a good job describing life in a lower income area. It’s told from a little girl’s point of view and highlights the value of family and saving money for something that’s important to you. I feel these are essential messages for today’s children. I recommend this story and I feel it would be a valuable addition to classrooms as well as families. * I received a free copy of this book and chose to review it without compensation. Review for Let’s Have an Exciting Day at the Fairgrounds

4.0 out of 5 starsA cute book with a timely message October 8, 2019Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseI think, “Let’s Have an Exciting day at the Fairgrounds” is a cute book with colorful illustrations. It’s about a little boy named Jonas and his pony, Peter, who decide to take a trip to the fairgrounds. Some of their experiences are fun, but they encounter children who bully them. Jonas tries to please everyone after he and Peter are teased. But eventually, he finds another way to think about their experiences. It’s a good story, but I thought some of the vocabulary is too advanced for very young children. review by children’s author, Deanie Humphrys-Dunne copyright 2019: Deanie Humphry...

The Grumpy Owl review

5.0 out of 5 starsA cute story with a helpful message November 6, 2019 Format: Paperback The Grumpy Owl is a cute story about an owl who wakes up in a bad mood. He notices that other animals don’t say the things he expects. For example, the little turtle says “Woof” when he’s chatting with a bear. I think small children would enjoy this story and learn to accept people the way they are, even if they’re different than you might think. I recommend this story. Review for the Night Before Christmas in America

5.0 out of 5 starsAnother Great book by Mary Therese Grabowski August 8, 2019 Format: Hardcover”The Night Before Christmas in America is a wonderful, educational book about Christmas in the early era of America. Readers will delight at Santa’s travels with Presidents Adams, Jefferson, Madison and Monroe travel in Santa’s sleigh. The presidents help Santa understand how America came to be. Review for Shog’s Best Friends

An adorable, funny, book with a great message! September 8, 2019Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase I loved “Shog’s Best Friends: Shog, Lilly, Frog and Piggie” It was great fun to read and the verses were adorable and funny. Shog was a stubborn dog who had a sign on his door saying only dogs were welcome. Pigs were to “pink and too fat”. He wouldn’t consider being friends with a cat and frogs would not be acceptable because, after all, they were green! Shog felt terribly lonely without any friends and he did what he could to keep them away. But something happened that changed everything, including Shog’s attitude. I highly recommend this book. Review for Arial the Chef

Another wonderful book by Mary Nhin September 18, 2019 I really enjoyed Arial the Chef for many reasons. The illustrations are big, bright and engaging. But also, there are valuable life lessons woven into the story. This time Arial thinks she would like to have a robot to help her prepare sushi, but she must earn her own money. Arial makes a secret plan to help her open a sushi bar. She wanted to use the money earned from her sushi bar sales to buy the robot. However, things didn’t go as planned with the grand opening.
