Bethany's Sin by Robert R. McCammon

People read stories to fall into the world created by the author. Yes, for a moment they can escape their troubles and be entertained. They regale in the written word even though each will perceive the same story differently. However, every once in a while a story comes along that sticks to their bones invade their souls, and they know that this story will always be a part of us somehow. This is how I felt reading Robert McCammon's Bethany’s Sin.A perfect little town, with a perfect little home, and yet, something evil, ancient, mysterious, and murderous slithers and groans beneath the well-kept streets and lawns of the quiet, quaint town called Bethany's Sin. Manipulating and cultivating, b...

Demon King by Erik Henry Vick

Oneka Falls appeared as tranquil and poised as any other small town, but for a group of boys, this town is housing their town’s worst nightmare. The book bounces between the time when the boys were young, 1979, and when they are men, 2007. While the plot progresses and evolves, the reader is taken through the character’s physical and psychological upheave to the point that they can bodily feel their bones ache.Demon King is a melody of terror, horror, mystery, and suspense one that takes you into the dark side where another sinister species hides in the shadows, or disguised and in plain sight, waiting for the chance, if you are lucky, to feed off your emotions. If not, you are in for an ind...

Collecting Death (Haunted Collection Series #1) by Ron Ripley

Have you ever thought about purchasing haunted items? If so this story might just make you change your mind.Stefan’s mom and dad collected haunted items, and he has made it his mission to sell these treasured items. He is not selling them to make money or to make sure they are taken care of as they should be, no! He is selling them to armature buyers who don’t know how to contain evil that possesses them. His goal is to have these items cause as much havoc and pain as they can to get back at his mother.Ron Ripley is an excellent writer, and I have read many of his books. However, this one had me up at night checking to make sure my antique doll had not moved from her position on the dresser....

TATRANEWS October Newsletter

Hello Friends:I am pleased to report that once again there is lots of news on the writing / publishing front!  First, at the end of September, the print version of THE WAFFLE AND THE PANCAKE, my first children's picture storybook, was finally published by Bayeux Arts. It is now available through your local bookstore (they can order through Ingram or the publisher) and of course on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other book sites.  THE WAFFLE AND THE PANCAKE is a fun take-off on the traditional Hansel and Gretel tale, so no doubt your children and grandchildren will enjoy it as much as mine did. As always, I am grateful for reviews!Second, I am very pleased to report that a new novel, THE RAI...

My Rabbit Hole Summer

Originally published on my Only for the Brave blog, on October 2, 2018:  https://wryterinwonderland.com/2018/10/02/my-rabbit-hole-summer/Where did the summer go?Here it is, the beginning of October, solidly into fall, and as I look back at this past year, I feel that I have nothing to show for it. What did I do all that time?More accurately, I know what I didn’t do. Writing.I thought about writing a lot. I talked about it even more.  And, I took a number of classes to learn how to become a better writer.  So, I guess, there is that. I did learn a lot through the various classes. Rebecca (Becca) Syme’s class, Writing Better Faster was just what I needed to get me out of my slump. In her class,...

OWEN THOMAS FICTION REVIEW: "The Book of Moon" by George Crowder

To call “The Book of Moon”a ‘coming-of-age’ story is to be both accurate and woefully incomplete. George Crowder’s deftly-written chronicle of the Landing family, narrated from the teenage-perspective of its youngest member, Moon (yes, that’s Moon Landing), has all of the hallmarks that one expects to find in a good coming-of-age tale: a young man coming to an ever-broader and more richly meaningful understanding of himself, his family and the world as life throws him one curveball after another. In Crowder’s capable hands, we follow young Moon from one revelatory trial and tribulation to the next, watching him wrestle with his own self-concept within the greater context of his parents’ divo...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to ANNE RICE from Owen Thomas Fiction

Happy Birthday to Anne Rice, born October 4, 1941. Born Howard Allen Frances O'Brien, Anne Rice has made her name writing gothic fiction, Christian literature and erotica. If you have a bookshelf at home dedicated to Anne Rice then you need to place it prominently for visitors to peruse so they can leave your house having absolutely no idea what to think of you. Rice’s most famous work is, of course, “Interview with a Vampire,” which introduced the world to Lestat, a vampire whose fame is second only to Dracula himself. Now at 77, Rice can claim this bit of wisdom for herself: nothing keeps you feeling young like inventing an insatiable 200+ year-old character to pay off your mortgage and ke...

Do you Wordpress?

I use Wordpress for my website. I like Wordpress.Lately things are moving to a new editor. Gutenberg. I've tried it. It has advantages but... it also has puzzles that I think should be addressed. In 'old' Wordpress it's simple to add an image and move it left or right of text. With Gutenberg this apparently is possible but I haven't figured it out yet. It's supposed to be intuitive, more intuitive than the old editor, but I guess my intuition hasn't caught up yet.Curious if any of you have figured it out yet, or even moved to another platform for your sites.

INDEPENDENT BOOKSTORES from Owen Thomas Fiction: BOULDER, COLORADO Edition

How long has it been since you supported your local independent bookstore or library? I don’t care what your answer is. However long it has been is much too long. We all need to get out there and show some love for those lonely foot soldiers in the fight against illiteracy, literary apathy, and the threat of complete assimilation by the American zero-attention-span-unless-it’s-a-video-zombie-culture that is taking an ever-greater hold of our society. If you live in or intend to visit BOULDER, COLORADO then here is a good place to start…BOULDER BOOK STOREIN THEIR OWN WORDS: “Boulder Book Store is Boulder’s largest independent bookstore with 20,000 sq. feet, more than 100,000 titles, and three...

Saving Ebony: A Nail-Biting Page Turner

It's not often that an author receives a knock-your-socks-off review, at least it's not often for this author. I at least have to share it with someone other than my wife.A great review of Saving Ebony from Richard Devall, author of Old Letters and New Demons: Where History Meets Mystery.James Paddock doesn’t just tell you a story about saving an eight year old’s life from a psychopath. He grabs you by the collar and pulls you in so deep that the chair you’re sitting in disappears and the walls and the floor no longer exist. The only thing that matters is turning the next page and finding out what the bad guys going to try next, and what will the US Marshals, and Rusty and Ariana do in respo...

http://missscarlettflame.blogspot.com/2018/09/cover-reveal-from-kitten-to-captive.html

The story begins before the first book in the series and tells of the journey that was undertaken by the first of the submissives to be subjected to the darkness of Charles. Of an innocent girl that is seduced and led to believe that she must allow herself to be thoroughly abused and beaten to prove her love. Of the journey that led to her being found and freed. A testament to the love and trust that she finally found in others in the world of BDSM and bondage. The strength of character that was needed to bring her back from the depths, and into the light once more. Back from soul destroying life of a captive. Back to the playful kitten she was truly meant to be.
