Happy New Year, readers! Wishing you a year of marvelous books!A snippet from my biographical romance thriller FOR THE LOVE OF HAWTHORNE, on sale for Kindle at $0.57 this week:"I wondered when or if Nathaniel would ever finish THE SCARLET LETTER. He wrote so immensely I was almost frightened about it. But I knew his output depended on his long hours in the cold study, and this work also kept his grief at bay. I never disturbed him but for to deliver a plate of buttered bread with a glass of ale. I needed not ask how his writing fared. I could tell by the look in his eyes, how much he mumbled to himself, and whether he replied when I spoke to him. When I saw his shining look, I knew he'd prod...

Alexander Wilson – the puzzling story of a Second World War spy

Alexander-Wilson.jpg
Alexander WilsonNot all battles during a war are fought between armies in the open field. There have always been the men and women who work in intelligence and whose stories can often be very complex and difficult to understand, if we can unravel the truth of them at all. One such example was brought to our TV screens in December 2018 when many people in the UK were enthralled by the BBC drama ‘Mrs Wilson’ which told the story of Alexander Wilson, author, spy and bigamist. What most people found fascinating was that almost eighty years after some of the events took place we still don’t know the truth about Alexander Wilson as the government has still not released all the papers relating to h...

Book review With every letter by Sarah Sundin

Book review - 5 StarsWhere to start with my review?First off - to the author who has done a brilliant work, creating a fiction story in the midst of actual events. So many books were written about the Second World War but the author's research brought a brand new perspective to those events. I really have to congratulate her on creating such a lovely plot that mesmerized me from beginning to end.I really could relate to Tom, Mellie and every other character in the story. It was lively, filled with enough tension to keep you going and her writing was superbly done. This is a book I will recommend to all who loves a good plot, a very romantic story and strong characters.Throughout the storylin...

The longest five days…Operation Compass, 9th December 1940

Mersa Matruh
When we think of the early months of the Second World War we often focus on the setbacks suffered by the Allies in Europe including the disastrous fall of France and the heroic rescue of the British Expeditionary Force from Dunkirk. We also think of the losses we suffered in North Africa against Rommel and his Afrika Korps; but what is often forgotten is that our first adversary in Africa was not the Germans but the Italians and, for a time, things there were very different. Both Britain and Italy were intent on protecting their colonies in Africa. There were skirmished between the two sides but the Italian commander, Graziani, was doubtful that his largely un-mechanized force would be capabl...

My Goodreads TBR list so far for 2018 - 2019

Here is my list for the next year - so far... ??My books to read grows rapidly by day, week and month but my books read not so much. As you can see I like a wide variety. From Historical to bad boys in paranormal romance, thrillers and war, a good mystery and yes, even time-travel. I like the challenge and the discovery of new styles and genres from each author. Many of these books are on my Kindle since 2012. I am always busy reading new authors books due to demand but this year and the year to come I want to focus on the ones that I have bought, received as gifts or won in a competition, and some I bought. The self-help books are on my list for selfish reasons. To grow, and prosper and hel...

Romantic Historical Thriller SHARING HAMILTON is Free for Kindle This Week

SHARING HAMILTON, my romantic thriller co-authored with popular British mystery novelist Brian Porter, is free for Kindle this week. Thanks, readers, for your stellar reviews. 5 out of 5 stars A really good read. Berk Rourke: Verified PurchaseBeing a history student by my initial education, and loving historical novels, this was a must read, never mind one of the co-authors, Brian L. Porter is one of my favorite authors. This tale, as one might expect with the description of a clandestine affair, especially one with such an historical figure, was a bit slow moving. The back story of a murderous doctor added a spice of a different kind as well and made one wonder whether the main ingenue would...

5 Star Review of Book 3, The shadow palace by Jane Steen.

Book 3 in the series was a wonderful conclusion to the series, The house of closed doors. With no hesitation, I can recommend this book to all readers that love a good historical mystery with a touch of romance. Ms Steen's writing simply leaves you wanting for more from her pen.The characters of Martin, Nell, Sarah and Tess has become mature and easily related to. They became live like in your mind. The plotline grew from curiosity to maturity over a good time frame that invites you into the lives of Nell, her daughter and their best friend, Tess. Adding more supporting characters it is a well-crafted book that takes you back to the younger years of America and the perceptions of different c...

THE END OF CAMELOT, My Historical Romance Set Around the Assassination of President Kennedy--55 Years Ago November 22

The End of Camelot by Diana RubinoNovember 22, 1963, a day that changed America forever. Who killed President Kennedy?I've been a HUGE JFK assassination buff since that very day. Everyone who was alive on November 22, 1963 knew exactly where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news. I was in my first grade classroom. The teacher got a call on the classroom phone and told us ‘the president was shot.’ A collective gasp went around the room. I was 6 years old and in first grade. It was ten years before I saw the footage of Ruby shooting Oswald, on an anniversary documentary.           But it was my grandmother who got me interested in the biggest mystery since 'who killed the...
