D is for Dilbert #AtoZChallenge

For this year’s A to Z Challenge, I have chosen the theme of comic strips. For those young ones out there, a comic strip is a few drawn panels telling a story which appears in the newspaper. The first daily comic strip began in 1907 but the color comics (Sunday funnies) actually began back in 1894.

D is for Dilbert. (It was down to Dilbert or Dennis the Menace, 1951 to present.) Dilbert is written and illustrated by Scott Adams. It was first published in April 1989. It is featured in 2,000 newspapers in 65 countries and in 25 languages.

This strip centers around Dilbert, an engineer and the satirical humor in his office which often is filled with incompetent or unethical characters. Often it is run in the business section of the newspaper rather than on the comics section. It also spawned an animated TV series, which ran for two seasons.
