kid’s books: helping others

What if you were six years old and you heard not every child has toys to play with? Little Blake Work’s Mom told him some parents can’t afford to buy toys for their children. Blake was heartbroken. What did he do? Finally, he had an idea. He offered free toys and kid’s books to those who needed them. Blake’s Mom advertised on garage sale sites and his toy stand attracted big crowds.

One couple visited Blake’s free toy stand and explained they didn’t have much money for kid’s books. As you can imagine,  Blake was thrilled to hear the people would like more kid’s books. He rushed inside to get more for them. Blake’s Mom said the people were “so grateful.”

Don’t you think Blake did a wonderful thing by helping other children? His mom said she thinks they will plan other special events to help less fortunate kids. What happened to the toys and books that were left? Blake donated them to a local kindergarten class. Wasn’t that a great idea? You can see Blake is a special child who always thinks of others.

As you may know, I write kid’s books which encourage good behavior and character in children. Some, like Tails of Sweetbrier, stress the importance of never giving up on your dreams. Others, like Charlene the Star, help children remember it’s okay to have different natural skills than your friends. Charlene the Star and Hattie’s Heroes and Charlene the Star and Bentley Bulldog, are humorous stories highlighting helping others, sharing, and teamwork. I hope you check them out.
