The State of the Author
I have a bunch of miscellaneous thoughts, so I figured that I may as well share them all at once.Congratulations to this year’s slate of RONE finalists. My thanks to those who voted for Bayou Fire; we did not make it to the short list. However, out of the thousands of books out there, we made it to the long list. That is a Very Big Deal, and I’m grateful. You will find the entire slate of finalists starting on page 58 of this month’s issue of InD’Tale Magazine. I’ve recently joined the Romance Writers of America, as well as my local chapter and an on-line chapter. Once I really started looking at my books, they do fall into the historical romance category, and I decided it was time to own that. Plus, the organization offers some excellent educational opportunities for authors. I’ll certainly be taking advantage of those. I am experiencing some challenges with It Happened in Memphis and Other Stories. I am beginning to think I need to pull out two batches of related stories and create novels from them rather than having a bunch of vaguely related shorts. The longer short tales will most likely become bonuses for folks who belong to my mailing list; if you would like to join, please send me a note via the Contact Me link at the left-hand side of this page and I’ll add you.
Thanks, as always, for reading.
