Many people ask me what I use on my face and body because it's so soft and smooth. When I tell them I only use the simplest of products such as Coconut Oil, Aloe Vera Gel, and Shea Butter, they marvel. You see, it doesn't cost much to have healthy skin. As a matter of fact women over the age of 40 need to take extra precautions because during this time of rapid change within the body fueled by hormonal fluctuations. The skin can suffer in so many ways, not to mention guarding against environmental changes and seasonal weather conditions.

During Perimenopause, which is usually between the ages of 35-50, the skin can tend to become very dry, and even susceptible to infection. So we need to pay attention to our skin during this time. At times the skin can be extremely dry, or become very wet and moist in certain areas (depending on body type), hence the need to keep the skin dry and the use of an emollient to control wetness is necessary to avoid fungal infections. I know these topics may be embarrassing for some, but these are conversations that we must have.

With all of the cancer diagnoses, lawsuits and health hazards, I would not recommend talcum powder for your skin, and worse on your private areas. Instead, you may use tea tree oil for any feminine itching, a mixture of essential oils such as Frankincense, Myrrh, Geranium, Lavender, Citrus, and Rosemary. Coconut oil, Shea Butter, Jojoba oil, Avocado oil, Olive oil, Hibiscus oil, and Hyssop oils are also acceptable to use in a tincture to provide moisture and healing benefits for the skin. Also, due to fluctuations in hormones many women suffer from eczema, psoriasis, and other skin conditions.
