Who Dares Wins

Nothing in life worth anything comes without risk.

These days, doing good can be manipulated into something selfish or evil. People are now reluctant to take any position publicly. And they are losing.

Inaction assures bad results… Saving lives requires risk. Saying NO to your children requires risk. Sharing traditional values requires risk. These days one can be instantly criticized worldwide on facecrook, twitter, and the maze of social networks. The meek withdraw. Except that everybody is retreating from the cacophony of the self-righteous left.

You must dare to do good…or we all lose.

The world’s toughest Special Operations Forces are in England. The SAS, Special Air Service. The SBS, Special Boat Service. Comparable to Delta Force and the Navy SEALs. The SAS motto is “Who Dares Wins”. Powerful and philosophical.

Today we want others to do everything for us. We want laws to protect us from any responsibility.

What we are seeing is that it is not the laws but it is us. Something more fundamental is wrong. We have lost our moral compass. We are wandering to the wrong needle.

Schools are not teaching respect and dignity. Nor manners nor history nor discipline nor Truth. They are being taught an amalgam of half-truths and sensitivity and distorted freedom of choice. I want to say these days… “who chooses, loses”.

But this is about “Who dares wins”. We have to dare to think out of the self-centered box and seize every opportunity to help someone. We have to be the fathers of encouragement.

We have to dare to be criticized.

We have to dare to yell “No More”!

We have to dare to offend.

We have to dare to mend.

Chris Bent, former Navy SEAL UDT-21, is the author of 13 books. Troubled by all the pain and injustice in the world he is driven to write in brief chapters that touch universal truths. Helping us search and find where we are meant to go. Helping us make a difference. Helping us not to quit. Hopefully.
