Writing in public, ready to start

And here I am.
In about one hour I’ll fire Google Docs open and I’ll start writing a story.
I’ll share the link on my socials so that people will be able to follow what I do.
I’ll be doing it in Italian, because after I’m finished I’ll hand the document over to my friend Hell, and he will do an editing, live, for everybody to see.
And that’s the fun part, and the interesting part, because nobody ever did it before – go in cold, write the story, have the first rough draft edited, in front of everybody.
It will be fun.
And I have no idea what I will write about.
In the previous occasions it was easier.
It was easier because I had keywords, a genre, or viewers’ suggestions.
I had constraints.

theory-of-constraints

A lot of people (amateurs, mostly) think that having a set of words or ideas or constraints of any kind make writing harder.
It’s actually the opposite.
You have something to hold on to, some words or ideas you can riff on while your brain gets in gear and a plot starts unravelling.
Constraints, limits, forced choices, keywords, are all excellent help when you’ve got to sit there and just write.
Otherwise, your brain starts to wander.
It’s doing it right now.
What about starting that H.G. Welles story I could sell… or what about a planetary romance? I like planetary romance, it’s been a while I’ve been wanting to write a planetary romance… why not Aculeo & Amunet? They’ve been in the wings for so long now, waiting for their next call…
And in the end you do nothing.
Like I’m doing now.
And considering you have three hours to go, no more, doing nothing is not a good strategy.tarot-cards-e1505502594402

So I’ll have to invent something.
Like, picking three tarot cards, and use them as guidelines.
Or something.

Half an hour to go.
I’ll keep you posted.
