Do We Need to Redefine Humanity?

Community Friday: Inspiration for All Week Upon looking up the word, humanity, the thesaurus lists words such as humankind, kindness, and civilization.  But our recent news has me wondering if it’s time to redefine humanity, and redirect the word ‘mankind.’   Humanity refers to all people.  If women were to have any say, they would demonstrate inclusiveness by replacing ‘mankind’ with ‘people-kind.’ It  is most notable that actions of late delete the latter part of the word ‘kind.’ The combination of kindness, respect, and help toward all, has unfortunately disappeared. It is said that ‘man’ evolved from the apes; today the theory is more plausible than ever.  If women were to have any say...

Are You Setting Enough Good Boundaries?

Attract the Right Job or Clientele As children, we are taught boundaries for what is acceptable and what is not. We learn to accept the do’s and don’ts set by others. However, it is an unknown why most are afraid to speak up when their boundaries are over-stepped. The give and take of giving and accepting of rules and procedures apply to every type of arrangement. Speak up or give up ~ the choice is in your hands. My Story One of the many reasons I advocate research of companies and people before any meeting is to recognize whether working with them will potentially be a good fit. Otherwise, your time in meetings will be a wasted effort; even worse is the aggravation that may set in. List ...

We Are Our Best Version of Our Competition

Attract the Right Job or Clientele: Most people don’t know how to handle their competition and freeze up just thinking about it. And there are times when we wonder how did they succeed, but I’m not able? As we begin to compare ourselves is the exact moment when the rabbit hole of despair appears. But, one competitor is far more important than all the rest. My Story We are all very much aware of the success of others whether it be on the job, in a business and out in society, too. But, our success is dependent upon whether we can snap out of the comparison dilemma that makes us feel inferior. It’s important to remember that no two people have the same DNA and accordingly, we all approach li...

Realize the Impact Impossible Has On Improving Success

Attract the Right Job or Clientele: Throughout our lifetime, there is no doubt we will each hear the exclamation, “that’s impossible!” But the fact is, nothing is impossible when you possess a positive mindset, the will to move past all obstacles, and a plan for obtaining what you desire. Use the word ‘impossible’ as the motivator to succeed! Our Stories This morning, one tweet inspired and motivated me to write about our similarities for facing and overcoming the ‘impossible.’ For this blog, it’s a tale of two stories of how everyday people, like you, surpassed all expectations. Complementing the story below is a previous blog, “ Roadblocks Are Gifts in Disguise to Improve Performance.” “...

It is up to each of us to determine which strategies to use and how to best utilize and market them for our business.  On the other hand, it may be the right time for a time-out to determine which to let go of and which to maintain.  After all, some of the older forms of marketing still work extraordinarily well.  Marketing is one of the steps that will enable sales. _______ Today’s guest post, ...

Being Nice Guides the Charge to Improved Performance

Attract the Right Job or Clientele It’s interesting how many people interpret being nice as also being a ‘pushover’ and one who will accept anything. Judgment misses the fact that being nice can be the quiet style of leadership that motivates others to improved performance. My Story The qualifiers I use for being ‘nice’ include:  Engaged listening and questioning to learn more  Treating everyone as equals Performing with integrity. But there are times when none of the above works although you do your best to help improve performance. At times, the quiet leader may see guidance is in order. As an entrepreneur, I had to move from just the sales mentality over to blending in the disciplines o...

One Sales Tool Is Poised to Surpass All Others

Over the past decade, there has been an explosion of sales tools. Sales leaders have purchased on average, upwards of eight tools for their B2B selling teams. In spite of these expensive purchases, rep productivity is at an all-time low, with more reps missing quota in 2016 than experienced in prior periods. So, let’s step back and talk about sales tools for a moment. Note:  Today’s featured story is presented by  Linda Broenniman and Dan Frumkin, Co-Founders of JustSoldIt!      We all know sales is about delivering value to customers, solving pain points and most importantly, building a human-to-human relationship. In fact, an argument can be made, that if you are going to deploy a sales ...

Errors Are Common How to Handle Is An Easy Strategy

Attract the Right Job or Clientele: Everyone will occasionally make an error in their communication.  And when dealing with many people, on occasion you will encounter multiple errors in just one day. Today’s post is about the improved strategy for overcoming errors in sales communication. My Story Strictly from a sales viewpoint, insurance companies are savvy to be selling ‘errors and omissions’ policies. They saw a need and recognized how to fill it for thriving businesses. Finding a need and innovating a solution is the approach successful entrepreneurs use. Roadblocks Are Gifts in Disguise to Improve Performance

Attract the Right Job or Clientele: It is safe to say that everyone has hit Roadblocks in their journey. But not everyone can successfully deal with the sudden closures found on their chosen path. Meet the challenge head on with a smile as you step aside to leap forward! For a humorous example read my story appearing in Sales Po p My Story Many of my stories have been shared over time revealing the need to keep my cool upon encountering Roadblocks with the need to create a new strategic plan. Those who attempt to bully me in the beginning, are usually scratching their head at the end of the story and asking themselves, “What just happened?” followed by, “How did it happen?” Today, Beth and...

How to Make Your Customers Winners!

NOTE:  Today’s insights are provided by Ian Moyse , Sales Director, Natterbox Over the past few years, we have seen technology accelerate at an increased pace.  Much of what we now take for granted are in fact only recent developments. Social sites such as Facebook and Twitter did not exist before 2004 and 2006.  Before the early 2000’s when the 1st satellite navigation appeared, we had paper maps in the car, and we saw the 1st i Phone just on the market in 2007. So in only the past 10-15 years, we have witnessed increasingly rapid changes to the world we live in, with technology making things quicker, faster, cheaper and in ways not imagined before. Every day it seems technology leaps for...

Could Your Response Style Use Tweaking?

Attract the Right Job or Clientele: Our communication affects all stages of the sales cycle and also includes the final stage for getting hired.  One of the more critical areas for getting to ‘Yes!’ is in our Response Style. A response may be an answer to a question, providing insight, or getting to the closing stage of pending business. My Story Today the story will begin with the best case Response Style seen to date and will end with one of the worst for comparison.  By providing the ‘Wow’ model first will give a goal toward which we should all strive. 1.  A three-way email chain of events is not the easiest and miscommunication is likely to occur.  Marjorie’s prior corporate and execut...

Motivate Employees: Build Engagement and Clientele

Attract the Right Job or Clientele: Every organization’s most valuable asset is unquestionably the same: its people. The ability to motivate employees to do a great job is goal No. 1 but this is far easier said than done! From the Smooth Sale perspective, motivating employees is an inside sales job on the part of management.  Employee recognition done well will highly motivate the sales team. Paying it forward, the sales representatives are far more likely to treat clients with a similar respect and build relationships that earn increased sales.   The following infographic, “A Guide to Employee Recognition,” offers company leaders an easy-to-digest, visual overview of three critical aspects ...

Are You Well-Connected?

Attract the Right Job or Clientele The number of our connections isn’t nearly as important as the quality that moves us to become Well-Connected. Most of us get that, yet those who are competitive with themselves (like me) always want to do better. Finally, I reached a milestone of which I was proud, but then another record was revealed that had me asking, are they open to teaching me how they do that?! My Story There appears to be a new feature on LinkedIn, and that is to show the number of views recent posts enjoy. It may be their way of addressing (and competing with) the retweets on Twitter and the ‘Likes’ on Facebook. My top number of views had colleagues saying, ‘Wow, that’s great!’ ...

Do You Visualize and Pursue Victory?

Community Friday:  Inspiration All Week Long Valeri Bocage CEO Powerful Women International Connections We are often inspired to take on new challenges. We contemplate the five W’s: who, what, when, where and why, and then, consider the how’s and the possibility of success. Can we take on this challenge and visualize victory? After looking down the road and trying to visualize the five W’s in action, we need to decide if we are going to believe in ourselves, and with patience, persistence, and perseverance will we proceed with our new challenge. The only rule with taking on a challenge is taken from the sales handbook – work for a win-win: Good for the world and good for you, too! Visualizat...
