Book Description

What happens when a good man collides with his father’s past and the woman he loves is caught in the middle?

The Man…
Gunnar Sheppard’s father left him and his mom when he was only a month old. Now that his mom has married, he has a whole new family in his life, including two biological half-sisters, and he’s hoping his heritage of a cheating, no-good father and a box of pictures his stepmother gave him after he died can be put to rest. That’s where the problems begin.

The Woman…
Emma Drake has gone through some hard times. She’s been stalked, cheated on, and fired. Returning home to her sister is both a balm and a burden. Her history with bikers isn’t stellar and when she meets Gunnar, the sizzling, sexy biker in the parking lot, she’s more than a bit unsure of him.

The Problems…
Gunnar and Emma recognize the spark between them instantly, but both have battles to fight that could harm the other. They need to find a way to keep the growing attraction strong and battle the events that keep forcing their way between them. Both are determined to rid themselves of the ugliness of the past. But finding a way to do that and not harm the other in the process seems too much to handle.

***** With a voice hoarse and dry, Jeremiah said, “Here’s how it’s going to go. We’ll go over things with Ricky and Janice so tomorrow will run smooth. Then, we’re leaving…together…and tonight we’re going to be together. No more of you avoiding me. I want you Joci and you want me. Stop this frustrating, ridiculous game of cat and mouse you’ve been playing this past year. It serves no purpose. I will have you…tonight.” ***** Jeremiah (Dog) Sheppard is a Marine Corp Gulf War veteran. He has raised his twin sons alone and runs his very successful Rolling Thunder Motorcycles, Inc. Joci is a biker chick who runs her own marketing business and has raised her son alone. Having been cheated on in two former relationships, she steers clear of men. Understandably, she doesn’t want to get hurt again. Dog fell for Joci the first time he saw her. Joci, too, was attracted to Dog, but had turned him down on the several occasions he asked her out. He knew in his heart that one day she would have to give in; in the meantime, he would be patient. As they are drawn together for a yearly veterans ride charity event, they are forced to face their pasts. Can they build a future together? You’ll have to read to find out. I couldn’t stop reading this book once I started. The characters are relatable and I found myself cheering for them every step of the way. There are some familial elements in Dog’s family that makes the reading even more enjoyable. I recommend this to all readers age 18+.

"Dog Days of Summer" by PJ Fiala is a real treat. As romances go this has great chemistry and interesting characters. I found it refreshing to have a romance between people who are parents themselves. The setting in the biker community and its annual charity ride was particularly fascinating for me, since it is such a different world to mine. It was much how I imagined it would be yet with great individuals and ideas that made the story and the characters very relatable and likeable. A good dependable war veteran as love interest should have readers fall in love, just as Joci does in the book. The language and the erotic scenes are quite explicit at times but fit the storyline and characters perfectly. A heart warming and uplifting book full of great values.
