HOT NEW REVIEW: 4.5 Star Review: LAST CHANCE
by Heather Nordahl Files (Affaire de Coeur)
Del’s father got into trouble with The Core, owing them a lot of money. He died before he could pay, leaving the debt to Del and his brother. Del sends his brother away to keep him safe and does whatever he can to pay the debt, but the interest keeps increasing. He’s very good at racing slicers (small space ships), so he enters an illegal race. But right before it begins, two mysterious strangers in black arrive. The woman in black offers to quadruple the winnings, then deliberately throws the race to allow Del to win.
The winnings should have cleared his debt, but The Core won’t let him go. It turns out that the strangers in black are looking for him. The Shay siblings, Sin and Kai, want to use his slicing abilities. Sin frees him from The Core at last, but he’s fighting his attraction to her. Not only would it be a bad idea to make moves on the boss, but he needs to concentrate on his job, which has its moments of danger.
Michelle O’Leary’s latest launches her “Sunscapes” trilogy. This sci‑fi romance doesn’t bog down in description of her world and is still easy to visualize and follow. The relationship between Sin and Del has a gradual slow burn that readers will appreciate. And the ending will leave readers eager for the next title.
