My aim in life has always been to write, and I have had a sideline of freelance writing for more years than I like to admit to having lived. This has mainly involved published articles in such magazines as ‘Prediction’. I have also completed two children’s novels, ‘Caution: Witch in Progress’ and ‘Zac’s Destiny.’ ‘Caution: Witch in Progress’ was published by Ghostly Publishing in 2013 and launched at Earl’s Court Book Fair. It is available in paperback and on kindle on Amazon worldwide.
I am currently working on a very different children’s humorous fantasy, ‘Be Careful What You Wish For’, and a fantasy novel for young adults titled ‘Dimensions’.
I have also released something completely different on Kindle, a compilation of 13 macabre Twist in the Tale short stories, definitely NOT for children!
Zac’s Destiny is a novel aimed at children of nine years of age to mid teens. It is a fantasy work in the sword and sorcery genre.
The hero of the tale is a fifteen year old stable boy named Zac. Found abandoned as a baby and brought to the castle where he now lives in service, Zac’s life at the castle is a hard working one but he is well treated and happy.
Gradually, the inhabitants of the castle begin to hear rumours of trouble. The evil Master of the Black Arts, Vorac, is intent on taking over the whole Kingdom to rule it for his own ends. Other parts of the land are falling under his demon-assisted might, and the only hope against him is the assistance of the great wizard, Aldric. Unfortunately, Aldric is missing without trace, and men have died trying to find him.
Following a strange dream, Zac soon finds himself on a quest with a small band of the Baron’s men to find the wizard. Disaster befalls them almost immediately.
The search for Aldric is hard, confusing, and fraught with many dangers; not least of the problems being the demons themselves. Zac’s friend, Beth, follows the boy on his
journey. She very soon proves her worth. The two meet up with unusual travelling companions in the form of unicorns, a dwarf, and a giant.
Zac also carries the contents of a strange casket. Only time shows the true power of the sword, ring and crystal.
After seeking the help of the Seer of the Waters of Learning, the companions must ride through the Forest of No Return and the Mists of Despair before they can even
hope to conquer the Black Tower that holds Aldric prisoner. Despite all the hardships, Aldric is rescued. It is only then that Zac finds his true identity, and his ordained destiny.
The companions now face the final battle to save the land.
